ABC Wednesday….L is for…….laying in the sunshine!

ABC Wednesday time!

 DSCN2281

There’s nothing like a dust bath in the warm sunshine! Here you can see Ernest with May, having a cuddle! It always brings home to me how caged and battery hens miss out so much on an experience which all hens love. To see them, like this so happy and content always makes me smile.
The weather has been rather changeable but whenever we have a warm day the hens enjoy it so much.
Well, it is 3.34pm Tuesday and I have JUST finished the final wall paper stripping! Jon has some socket work to do, but my part is finally over and I can relax! Well not really – will be an early night for me as we are driving over to the Lakes tomorrow re Jon’s business – returning home tomorrow night - a long day but will take my camera along!
So – nearly time for the plasterer and I will be able to think about colours! Way hey!

  4. LOVE the colours in the chickens here! Maybe you should take a hint for the kitchen. lol They do look so lazy and cosy in the dust. Right now we have mud from the torrential rains that came through yesterday. :(

  13. What a surprise! I never think of chickens cuddling! But hey! What do I know? :)

  14. They look so contented. It's wicked that some poor hens never have the chance to lead a proper life - likewise other livestock.

  18. Isn't it nice to see chickens behaving in the way nature intended? Too often we see them stuffed in to cages with no room to turn. How lovely to see them like this.

  25. I have a similar photo of mt hens having a mud bath beside the plants in an old trough, gorgeous, and such characters. I don't know how they get away with battery hens still, it is so cruel.

  33. Nadine was based on a real person. That was my first venture into writing five years ago.
I posted the rest of the story in my
    http://annkschin.blogspot.com/2008/11/nadine-chapter-one.html
This was the reason why I started blogging. It was to showcase my writing.
Of course, at that time, I didn't know any of you, so my writings were not read.
Thank you all for reading and commenting.

  34. One of the neighbor's hens was pecking in our lawn ths afternoon. That's a good thing. Sometimes they prefer to peck at the cat's food.
