It's on it's way!

I take my MIL food shopping each week. The weather was awful yesterday so we went today, Sunday. The fruit and veg are cheap in Lidl so we headed there first.........and the Christmas stock was on the shelves. We then went to Sainsury's where there was Halloween, Bonfire Night and Christmas stock out too. Jon and I nipped to B&Q and Next had their Christmas decorations out!
Hmmmmmmmmm - this time last week we were in the middle of a heatwave now we have Christmas banging on the door!
Is it too early for Christmas planning? With only the 2 of us there isn't a great deal to plan - talking in the car on our way home we said we would buy something for the house rather than individual presents. I am aware that I have the time to "shop" for Jon, but it isn't fair on him really as he hasn't the time to buy regularly for me - so we will just spend £10 on each other - think we'll each have 20 minutes in Asda - whilst the other waits in the carpark - yes sounds like a plan and even if I say so myself a mighty fine plan!

  2. Yes it is too early for Christmas... but if I remember right many of you in the UK had snow and super cold weather and the volcanic ash really put mail on hold. Maybe wait till after Halloween and for us Thanksgiving ?

None of my friends need or want anything so small gifts of plants or food to share is our main choice. Many artist friends chose to make something and last year for close friends I printed up a small book of my Photography.

Your idea of picking a small dollar amount sounds like a great idea. Makes you think about what you can really do or buy for that amount.

  3. My birthday is December 1, so I always leave Christmas things until after that date, obviously a date ordained before I was born!

  4. I think that £10 spree sounds a good plan. Best to get something you really want.
I'm not in the mood for all that rush. Far too early & yet I won't be able to trawl the shops for hours on end this year if I leave it too late.

  6. Yes, I noticed that stuff in the shops last week and the 'Christmas Magazines' are on sale as well. Far too early for all that, although I might start making the cards in November.

  7. That's a nice idea of yours. I dread the thought of Christmas; with birthdays so near to it I run out of ideas.

  8. I love Christmas and like to plan and buy early, but I usually wait until after the school October half-term. I'm making some presents this year too.

  9. We are rapidly coming to the same conclusion Denise - there is absolutely nothing that David wants - I usually end up buying him a DVD and a jig-saw - and he trails about looking for something for me when he doesn't really have time.
