Stairway to Heaven DIY style.

Prior to our decorating project, the hall looked like this.

Now it looks like this.

We went with a grey carpet.

The landing before.....

and after.

A blue carpet in the main bedroom.

We are so pleased with the white glossed woodwork - even the re-positioning of the door knobs has given the whole place a lift.

Colours used - Farrow & Ball Strong White for landing and hallway walls. Pavillion Grey for wall above radiator in hall. This can't be seen really in photograph 2 but the different shade can be just made out. We are waiting for the radiator to be returned from the sand blasting process and then we will finish it off with a mirror I spotted!

Watch this space!

  1. it certainly looks very different! Don't thump me, but I must say I LOVED the tiles in your hallway :-)

    1. It was old lino Kath and cracked. 56 years had taken it's toll xx

    2. I did too until I heard about the lino aspect! I do like that grey carpet though and I'm a great believer in painting woodwork.

  2. That looks super- it IS surprising how much is added to the final appearance by the new doorknobs! Great project- well done x

  3. Isn't it good to sit back and feel the satisfaction.

  4. It's looking fabulous. I'm not surprised you're pleased with it.

  5. It looks lovely Denise. Really fresh and classy. Well done!
Is the handrail also Pavilion Grey?

  6. The white looks very clean and new. I have to say that I would come down hard on anyone who tried to paint my lovely stained oak trim. :)

  7. Looks lovely -- fresh and airy. Lots of hard work but well worth it.

  8. Lovely !
Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and paint the wood. The entry and staircase look so open, clean and not so dark !
    How are the Chickens ?

    cheers, parsnip

  9. Spiffy! A great feeling to have it done, I'm sure ~ makes such a difference especially when you think of the before and during phases ~ Enjoy!

  10. It looks lovely, Denise! I love the combination of the bright white with the soft grey tones!

  11. That is so lovely. You know, you are living in a really lovely place! Well done for all your hard work and it continues!
