View from our window 3

Looking out from the kitchen window I can see Hamish, my neighbours horse

From the back window, I can see our latest visitor!

Good news on the henfront - a blue egg was amongst the daily collection this morning - Bev is laying again, bringing our hens to full capacity. 6 hens, 6 eggs every day!

  1. envious!
From the front here I have the village mainstreet. At the back, from the kitchen I look out on my kiln chimney and workshop roof (green tiles) across the back lane and neighbour's garden (?!) patch to the main trunk road up the valley and a factory the other side of the road. The saving grace is the slopes of Mynydd y LLan, horses in a field and conifer plantations above.

  6. What great views you have from your windows - I have my garden and the lane running past the side of our bungalow but no long distance view to the open countryside. How lovely to see the cock pheasant.

I love that you have a Hamish too. Although one is your neighbors and mine is a crazy Scottie.
I an amazed you have a Pheasant at your bird feeder. Lucky you !

  8. I love the name Hamish, and the pheasant is beautiful indeed.
What do you do with so many eggs? I had an egg-cheese-and-toast sandwich for breakfast today. Yum.
My mother used to make a cake called "Sunshine Cake" containing 12 eggs. It was very light, but not as light as angel cake, although it was baked in an angel cake tin — it rose up about 3 inches above the top of the tin and had to be cooled in the tin on a long-necked beer bottle. I've never tried making it, but I remember it fondly.

  12. A blue egg??? That's wild. Could it be from a different bird? As you can tell I know nothing about hens :) But, I have a son that really likes eggs. 6 hens laying 6 eggs just might be what we need to keep up with that boy. He's a little guy @ 6'6ish and 17 years old. Maybe if I got a few hens I could keep up with him. :)

Forgive me for being so late stopping by your blog. ~ Life got in the way of blogging ~ I hate it when that happens! :)

Have a great week! See you soon!

  13. You absloutely cannot beat fresh eggs from your own hens, enjoy. I have still to find Charlie's nest she is laying somewhere about the farm....I just hope the sheepdog doesn't get there first!!
