Colourful

Day 4 Sketchbook Challenge Prompt "Petal"
Petal Watercolour/permanent ink
Today I have used 2 pages (A4 landscape) in my sketchbook because I wanted to give the impression of a wallpaper. In 1970 after a partcularly rough few years mum and my fortunes were going to change when mum remarried. We were going to have security and more important a safe home. We were to move into a bungalow and I was allowed to chose the wallpaper for my bedroom. At the time Vymura was the "in thing" and the designs were almost psycadelic and vibrant. I chose purple and pink as my colour scheme. I had a lovely long pile purple carpet, pink curtains and the wallpaper to die for. All was well for a year or so when I decided to re-arrange my bedroom (as you do) and the Elton John poster had to be moved. It was difficult to get the poster off the wall - Vymura was vinyl based and it was difficult to stick anything on the wall. These were the days before blu-tack so I used bostick! Eventually the poster came off the wall - together with a couple of rolls of wallpaper! I wasn't popular I can tell you. I wanted to re-create the wallpaper, predominantly large petals.
