January 2013

I keep reading people are taking the tree down and are feeling better for it. Today I took our tree down. It was a new purchase this year, our previous one was in a sad way and every year saw more branches take another bashing - it was over 20 years old too. As the lounge was decorated last year the previous colours of the tree - gold and red did not go with the new colours of Brassica and Hound Yellow see here so I bought some silver baubles and planned to buy some purple ones too, so was rather thrilled to find some reduced to 50p for a box of 12 in Homebase on Boxing Day! Whilst too late for this year they are now packed away for next year. Looking at the photograph of the lounge (link above) I definitely want some purple curtains for the winter months as the current ones would be such an uplifting change when Spring arrived.

The Sales have been advertised everywhere and I am pleased to say I have bought a couple of Christmas presents for 2013 together with some Christmas Cards I saw which gave me an idea for the ones I am going to make in a couple of weeks. Watch this space.

2013 is certainly going to be a busy year here in Nesbittland. We have our annual tootle over to Isle of Man for the TT at the end of May/first week of June where we celebrate both Jon's birthday and our wedding anniversary. It is our Silver Wedding this year and we are planning a rather spectacular bash for close friends and family, so I will be in my element sorting this out. We thought long and hard about going on a special holiday of some sort and decided on touring the wine regions of France. This should be a hoot!

Bing continues to grow and develop into a fabulous little man. He has his second vaccination in just under 2 weeks, then after a week I will be taking him to puppy training classes. Both Elsie and Freida are helping him settle in. He has had a couple of warning nips from them both but they get along really well. He is absorbing information all the time, we are so pleased with him.

His ears are creeping up!
Watch this space!

  1. Nothing better than a sweet puppy sleeping. It is hard to keep from scooping them up for a cuddle.

    cheers, parsnip

  2. I will be taking down my tree this week-end. While it is nice to get things back in order, taking things down tend to let the bleakness of winter take over.

We had to put our Shepard down on the 10th of November. I miss my sweet Tillie, but it was for the best. Your Bing is adorable!

  3. Tree down this afternoon, all decorations packed away.
I NEARLY bought a HUGE box of 'shatterproof baubles' in Homebase Sale for 50p [convinced I could repurpose them for a kids craft at church] till I realised that many of them were...shattered !!

    Love your purple ones.

    Happy new year xx

  4. Those are gorgeous purple bobbles! And Bing is so so so cute! I've been gradually putting the decorations away - take some upstairs to the box every time I go up and today I'll take the tree down. Time to get back to "normal." And tutoring starts again next Monday. You sure have lots of fun things planned for 2013! Wish I could meet you in France.

    1. A good idea to do the job bit by bit Leslie. I tend to do the bottom of the tree and Jon sees to the top! Trouble being short I can't reach! Jon ALWAYS puts the star on the tree.

  8. Love the new colored baubles. Bing is growing fast. My sister had her son, grandson and new puppy for Christmas. Said she as all 'puppied out' by the end of their stay. Haven't heard 'bobby-dazzler' in a long while! :)
