Round 7!

Here we are on the brink of Year 4 as we enter another round of ABC Wednesday. Over the past few weeks I have been thinking about what theme to have for this round and I have decided to base everything around my home and garden. Being a naturally inquisitive (nosy) person I do love looking round people’s homes, (for ideas of course!) so I am kicking off with my ABC Wednesday with A is for my Art!

The picture above is a painting I did of Ella our cat. It hangs on the lounge wall and i would like to think it is a true likeness! Over the next few months I want to do the same pose but pointing towards the left and I will hang them together.

This canvas was made using one of my photographs from the ferry crossing from Ijmuiden to Newcastle back in 2008, the other three are hung above our sideboard, again in the lounge. I am not one for a great deal of ornaments, but the German Shepherd is one of my particular favourites as I feel it captures the pure breed! The wooden bowls were made by a neighbour and the mushrooms are something I collect when we are out on the motorbike – small enough to fit inside the limited storage space!

This is another of my photographs – taken as the sun rose on the same crossing. The slightly out of focus effect is down to the water on the porthole window.

Another canvas is my first attempt with oil paints many years ago. It is of Peggy one of our geese, sadly no longer with us. I could not get the technique right, following directions from a text book, when suddenly she was there, standing at the window staring at me.
I painted her straight away, just as she was.
No sooner had I finished painting she wandered off.

I think the lounge is one of my favourite rooms in our house as it is so light. What is your favourite room in your house?

  2. Round 7 - it's madness! How you have time and get the inspiration to do all this?
I am very happy that you let me be allowed to have the Norwegian edition of the ABC:) Thank you!!

  3. Lovely theme Denise and lovely to see those photographs. Glad to see that you like looking round other peoples' houses - that means that one day you will call and see me!!!
My favourite room in our house is my kitchen with its yellow walls and green Aga - it has been repainted three times - in Aconite, Daffodil and Dark Primrose and I will sweat they are all actually the same colour renamed. Hope you will come soon!

  4. I love your photographs/paintings, Denise! I put a couple of my photos onto canvas transfers a couple of years ago and gave them as gifts to my sisters. This year I'm going to do the same with some special photos of my g'kids. I also did "Art" today but in a different way. Hopefully, one day you'll let me see your originals when I come a'calling! :D

  6. Thank you for this glimpse into your home. I like peering in houses as I pass them but don't let anyone peer in ours as it's always such a mess.
    Looking forward to B!

  8. By and by we are getting acquainted with many bloggers, which is great. Sometimes I wish I could meet them in reality. Anyway a meme like ABC Wednesday or any of the other memes is a great means to exchange ideas.
Thanks for creating this one, Denise!

  11. Denise, I love all of your artwork and the arrangements. The Triptic is beautiful.
What room do I like the best? I really like my diningroom/lounge area in the early morning. The sun comes in and creates the most beautiful rays and shadows.

  12. Dear Denise,
What beautiful images! 'Art' is an excellent choice of 'A'-word! I feel silly that I did not think of it myself. I have lots of paintngs that I have made myself!

Thank you for continuing with a new round of ABC Wednesday! I started round 6 at the letter 'D', so it feels good to be able to start from the beginning.

Thank you for your kind words on my A-post.

    Best wishes,
    Anna

  13. I love the triptych! Gorgeous!
My favorite room other than my art room? The kitchen. And, after it got newly remodeled a year and a half ago, more so my favorite room!
I think I love all the rooms in my house, though. Each for a different reason. I also love my patio this time of year as it serves an an outdoor living room. It is particularly magical at night when all the twinkly yard lights are on.

I think my lounge is my favourite room too. It is at the back of the house and quiet and I can look out on the garden.

  23. Painting and drawing are my frustrations. I do wish I can paint...

The artworks you have are very amazing. I love that one of the cat - I am quite biased, I have a black cat and I do think he looks like the one in the painting. :)

My ABC Wednesday is up HERE. Happy Wednesday!

  32. Ah... that's why your painting of Peggy is so full of life! You painted her quickly, and from life itself, while she (no doubt) stared inquisitively at you wondering what on earth you were doing, and if there was any food in it for her! LOL!

Love the little collection of ornaments! I wish I could be so minimalist.

  33. Love the artwork. Someday, when my grandchildren grow up, I will be an artist too. :)

  46. Hi Ella,

I hope you like the bed I sent you. It Is a queen sized, so you don't have to cramp and curl up like your old round bed.

Just ask Mrs. Nesbitt to get you some nice New Zealand wool and make a comfy mattress.

    Meow!!!
