Up the lane!

We have several walks around the village......I really must explore more, but I always seem to go up Handale!

Had to laugh as we approached home - there they were, bold as brass in the next field! Proper free-range!

The moulting is over - now up to 4 eggs a day now! I can see Bev is laying her lovely blue eggs again. Need to have a baking session - the egg mountain is building up! Calls for a quiche I think!

  2. I'm sure the eggs taste even better when the hens choose their range.

    1. The deep yellow of the yokes is what I go by - this morning the yoke of Bev's egg was almost orange. Tasted awesome too.

  3. Is it flat all around you Denise? I always think if the "dales" when I think of Yorkshire. I used to live on the Cambridgeshire border, now that was flat. You could see the weather coming from miles away.

    1. Yes it is quite flat Kath - we can see the North Sea from the road so we do see the weather coming over - looks very bleak right now I can tell you.

  7. Beautiful photos. Have you ever made a frittata? Use up the bits of leftover vegetables and saute them, throw in the whipped eggs, and top with grated cheese. Delish!

  10. Great photos, Denise. I didn't realize your area was so flat either. As for the eggs, I really miss them. Sometimes they upset me. I suspect it's because they are not too fresh from the supermarket.

    1. Neither did I Chris - I guess it's only when we pause and think do we realise much about where we live. We can actually see the North Sea from the end of our drive.

  11. Gosh, aren't they productive? I'm sure it's a good sign of a happy flock! I have an egg fairy who leaves twice weekly deliveries of free eggs at my door - the ones not the right size for the supermarket, and often double-yolker's, too.

Btw, Alan was telling me anyone who Marshal's here, even for only one afternoon, qualifies with their warrant card for a healthy discount on the ferry rides across and back - just thought I'd mention it!
