R is for.....Rayburn!

Well the Rayburn is certainly in full operation and I can not begin to describe the difference between this year and the last few years - regarding the heating of this house. The same time last year we always seemed to be cold yet now the house is most definitely warm as toast.
Yes - it is different from the Aga - the top oven may be as hot but the bottom oven really is ok for warming through - not quite the capacity to slow cook like the Aga. The hotplates too - not as hot as the Aga but we are getting use to it all. The HUGE difference is this little beauty has a boiler which generates the central heating - yes the house is warm! Loving it! What makes me smile too are the comments we have received about the lovely colour - yes whilst my girly friends and neighbours comment the remarkable ones have come from the chimney sweep, the roofer and the windowcleaner! lol! Strange yet so so true!

  2. LOL, love the chimney sweep and the roofer complimenting you on the colour. It really is lovely, by the way. I've been meaning to say so. And keeping warm is even more important!
    Hooray for Rayburn!

  3. I wouldn't know how to start cooking on that, but think my cat would love to sleep in front of it :)

  4. I'm not sure I would know how to cook on it either but it seems a very ingenious device to both feed you and keep you cozy and warm.
Happy you have it this year.

  6. It is great that you can both cook on it and keep warm through the whole house. I think I'm needing a new furnace this year - quite a HUGE expense, but after all, I still have the original one when the house was built in the mid-80s. *sigh*

  7. I'm not so much on cooking but I'd love to be warm and that just doesn't happen here. Sigh. The color is soft and luscious!

  10. You will find that cats like curling up IN the bottom oven, given half a chance!!
It is also good for drying out welding rods and all other sorts of gubbins!!
    Wish I still had one.....

  14. I think I'm allergic to kitchens and technology, so this Rayburn looks amazing, but I'd probably wouldn't know how to begin using it! Warm is good, though! :-)

  18. Yes Denise, Rayburns and Agas really come into their own now that the weather has turned cold. You can come in after a walk and have a slice of toast by them in about ten seconds (even thick butter if you like).

  19. I love the color and so happy it keeps your home warm... even with you explaining what it does I still don't understand. It is on all the time right ? and it send heat to all the home and you cook on it too ?
But it doesn't matter if I understand because you like it and it is truly beautiful !
In Tucson I use a small room heater most of our Winter and only turn on the heater a few days in January and February.

    cheers, parsnip

  20. I am in awe of this machine. Having lived in nothing but warm climates I have never encountered something like this. It seems strange to me that one heats their home with the same apparatus as they do their cooking. But I do like that concept.
