Simple Pleasures!

I am pleased to say I am feeling much better . I am fine when at home but once I go anywhere I find myself either shivering or feeling too hot and uncomfortable with headaches - so it is best to stay where I feel comfortable.

The weather has been absolutely dreadful and today, Saturday is no exception - rained through the night and we awoke to yet more rain only stopping now and again. Amazingly we managed a tootle over to Whitby on Thursday and I had a manic weeding session whilst the sun shone. Sufficient time for me to fill the green wheelie bin ready for collection - I found this satisfying. The garden is in need of some serious attention - Jon managed to cut the lawns and I am itching to pot on my tomato plants - which I am doing whenever the rain stops.

I have been spending time reading - Rebecca Shaw is my current favourites. I read one of hers whilst on holiday - part of a series based in a veterinary practice. I am now reading my way through a whole series based around village life - ideal for a few hours amusement!

Life is returning to normal........well normal as it can be in the Nesbitt household!

  1. Stay warm and don't over do it! I'd love to read the books about the veterinary practice...I'll have a look for them.

  2. I'm always glad to be home from a holiday too.
Hope you feel better soon. Its no wonder you caught cold in this awful weather. Not much fun being out in it.

  3. Our garden is getting out of hand - too much rain and not enough gardening time. No sooner have we cut the grass than it starts growing again :)

    Enjoy your reading.

  4. We are not getting enough rain, so our garden is dry as concrete. We are carrying water to try to keep it alive. Rest, relax and enjoy your books.

  6. Take good care of yourself.
I haven't planted anything this year, we've had so much rain and have been so busy with the kitchen reno. But now I have to think about weeding.

  8. Glad to hear you're feeling better, but don't overdo since you're still feeling hot and cold. The weather seems to be awful everywhere! Yesterday was like summer but today it's rainy again. It's been the worst June here in over 30 years and we're all grumbling about it. Hope those tomatoes produce by the time I'm there! ;)

  9. What a summer (?) you are having.
I just can't believe your maybe gong to plant some tomatoes... mine have been growing for months and I got a late start.
At daughters CSA group there are no more leafy greens, that season has long past and she is getting persian cucumbers, squash, onions, tomatoes, zucchini carrots and potatoes.
    Our season start early.
But unlike you we might have very dry summer monsoon season but we are hoping for some better winter rains.
    Stay dry !

    cheers, parsnip

  10. Awful weather here too, it's winter in June. We're lighting the fire every evening just to brighten things up. I'm fed up of it.
I've been trying to catch up on weeds in the garden too, they seem to spring out of nowhere, overnight!
Might look up your Rebecca Shaw, I'm looking for some good books to get into during my hols.

  11. Glad you are feeling a bit better Denise. The weather is absolutely foul up here isn't it? Enough to make anyone go down with some dreaded lurgy or other. Keep warm.

  13. Glad to hear things are getting back to normal. Whitby was on the news last night, I think the torch passed through it.

  15. Not read back to see the history on this post yet but if I don't stop and comment now, I'll forget!
I like the Rebecca Shaw books too, have not come across the vet ones yet although have read a few of the village ones, I hope you enjoy them.
Just weeded a green wheelie bin full here too, doesn't actually look like I've even done anything!
Going back intime through your posts now xx

  16. I hope you are feeling much better now - I am sure we would all feel much better if only the weather would improve. I've also enjoyed the Rebecca Shaw books.
