In November a very close friend of ours had an horrendous motorbike accident due to a raised manhole/pothole? cover. last night we had the phone call to say Chris had died at 4pm.
Chris was a lovely lovely person and we were proud to be her friends.
Details of what happens next will trickle through our vast network of friends over the next few days, but right now, this is for Chris.
May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.
May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.
May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
And may your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

Denise - you have all my sympathy!
ReplyDeleteDenise, I am so sorry for your loss. This has always been one of my favorite songs, though I have heard it sung mostly by Peter, Paul, and Mary. May the memory of your friend stay forever young in your heart.

ReplyDeleteWhat a sad start to your New Year! But people live as long as someone says their name. My sister died forty years ago but she still lives in my memories.

ReplyDeleteHas the manhole/drain cover been replaced so that no-one else need suffer? I do hope so. The highways people often seem to forget bikers, don't they? :(
Jay not sure, but the matter is being followed up!
ReplyDeleteSo sad to lose friends; at least their memory never ages.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry Denise.
ReplyDeleteWe started rehearsing that very song at choir last night. It's by Bob Dylan, but I believe it's based on an Irish blessing as I was reading a very similar poem on a blog yesterday.
