Jon has spent the last few days negotiating prices, delivery dates etc and we finally went with our local dealer. The deposit is paid and delivery will be around the second week in July. The flu is on the right hand side, slightly different to the Aga so some moving and shaking will need to happen, but not until the Rayburn is in situ. Jon will have some lights to sort out in the kitchen, and the ceiling will be plastered BEFORE the Rayburn is delivered, but that is all we can do really - well in the kitchen anyway......so the lounge is now our focus.

  5. Wow....what a wonderful colour...I'm jealous!!

My Aga is the bog standard dark blue, if I ever get another one it will be cream or I could be seriously tempted by that Rayburn.

  12. I have never seen such a thing ! I wonder if it exists in Belgium. People have either central heating and an open fire and of course an electric or gaz stove in the kitchen. Some have also ovens but then together with central heating and it's more for additional heat and decoration.

I love your Rayburn. I'm not familiar with them but it looks like it will serve you beautifully.

  14. I love that colour! For some reason it reminds me of my childhood, but I don't really recall ever seeing an aqua stove anywhere.
And you've got yourself a unique R word out of all that remodeling! LOL

  17. I love the colour, we had one when we first married but it was the normal beige colour. We replaced it with an oil fired Stanley. Bliss, keeps the whole house snug and cosy.

  25. We always had a Rayburm while I was growing up... the small version when I was very little and then we moved to a bigger house and had a larger version. My mum loved it. It did all the cooking, heated the water, and heated most of the house.

  27. I want an aqua Rayburn -- what a fantastic and beautiful multi-functional appliance! Why don't we have those in the US?
Denise, what wonderful work you two are doing with your home -- love the snug!

  28. I've never seen one! Never used one either! Had an old wood stove when I lived in the country but never cooked on it. Lovely colour!

  29. And is that the colour you're having? Gorgeous!

  30. Liz - yes, Aqua! Coming early July!

  31. Will you use it on gas (calor), electric or solid fuel?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Libby - solid fuel - logs + anthrocite but mostly logs. We get a £500 supply as part of the deal. We have many farmers in the village who will let Jon go and collect logs in the pick-up so our fuel bills should be drastically reduced. Well in theory anyway.
