Making hay whilst the sun shines!

Well surprise surprise! We had wonderful sunshine today. Last night when I put the hens to bed they did look quite sad. Their feathers were quite wet due to the horrible weather we have had - but today they absolutely made the most of the sunshine and had a dustbath! Their deep clucking shows how much they enjoyed it!

  5. Yes Denise my hens are exactly the same. They don't mind strolling through the wet grass but they hate the rain falling on their feathers. Hasn't the weather been awful (alternate days here).

  6. Such a contented sound. You know I could really get quite fond of chickens -- and if my husband doesn't let me have another cat soon, I may just get one! The shelter is just not enough.

  9. We just invited a fancy small flock in at our place, so they would be safe.
Very tall, slim birds, quite upright...

  12. Awwww, aren't they gorgeous? Oh, this weekend we had torrential rain, too - Poor Abby was camping out doing her Duke of Edinburgh Bronze .. she came home looking like a drowned rat!
